How Much Does a Day Trip from Athens Cost? Bus vs. Car vs. Group Tour vs. Private

Last checked: . This page compares four ways to take a day trip from Athens to five common destinations. Prices are per person in euros for groups of 2, 4 and 6.
How the numbers are worked out
- Private van: the starting price per van divided by the number of people, rounded to the nearest euro. One van carries one group, up to 12 people. Prices are for the van, not per person.
- Public transport and group tour: published prices from the sources listed under each table.
- Rental car: a small car at about €40 a day for 2 or 4 people, a 7-seater at about €70 for 6, plus fuel (7.5 l/100 km at €2.20 a litre) and motorway tolls, split per person.
- Entry tickets to sites and museums are not included, except where a group tour row says so.
- Total time is door to door from central Athens.
